Day 89 : mile 2094, timberline lodge.

Mt hood stayed hidden most of this morning, but then the views of were great this evening. Saw my first western red cedar near hwy 26, and a larch about 10 miles before. Hiked with polka dot from colorado and magic from christchurch this afternoon.

Day 88 : mile 2062, warm springs river

Finally had some good views of Mt Jefferson this morning.

This evening during the decent into warm springs river, it really felt like the pacific northwest: rohdadendron, western hemlock, doug fir, oregon grape, etc. It is neat to hike up at high elevation for hundreds of moles and then find the environment has completely changed the next time down.

Day 87 : mile 2029

Today Oregon made a play for the crown of best berry state. Hopefully Washington can compete.

I passed mile 2000, and am more than 3/4 done!

Jefferson and three finger jack were in the clouds all day.

It was a very flat day through central oregon, capped off with some nice views of the sisters this evening.

I was distracted from hiking by some nice  huckleberries:

Day 84 : mile 1923, Charlton Lake

The 11 miles to shelter cove on the oregon scenic trail alternate went by quickly. I ran into ethan at shelter cove, who I hadnt seen in 1000 miles! We hiked to charlton lake this afternoon.

I passed the high point for OR and WA today!

Day 82 : mile 1856

I took the rim trail around Crater Lake, which cut off four miles, but added a lot of climbing. The vies of thw lake were worth it!

Day 79 : mile 1748, Klum Campground

I felt good for most of the day. Until the last 4 miles, when my shin went crazy again. Bummer.

Day 80 : mile 1783, Christi's Spring

The trail was really smooth today. It makes hiking so much easier.

It was a good day for berries, I had huckleberries, thimbleberries, raspberries and strawberries!

I've only have 1/3 of the trail left!

Day 78 : mile 1716, Callahans Lodge

I took had a short day and some rest for my shin here at Callahans on i5.

I didn't actually use the jacuzi tub...

Day 76 : mile 1677, last night in California

I got an early start this morning out of the  Siead Valley RV park, but then 1.5 miles down the trail I realized I forgot my battery charging. I was sad to go back because my shin was feeling pretty good.

Anyway, after that setback, I tackled the 5000 foot climb. It was hot, even early, and I was startled by a rattlesnake.

After 15 miles or so I was out of the sun and back in the shade of the conifers.

Only 12 miles to Oregon!

Butter bolete?

Grouse egg? I probably could have made a nice lunch with these two.

I also made it to oregon!
